URGENT PRESS RELEASE 2nd April 2012

RE: News Item released entitled “FIA Seat Homologations Cancelled”

In response to the recent news items published in various media on or around the 20th February 2012, Corbeau Seats Ltd would like to clear up any misunderstandings regarding the homologation of our seat models. As a seat manufacturer named in this document who fully understands the FIA/ MSA seat homologations we feel it necessary to clarify what this bulletin set out to explain.

In 2004 certain Corbeau seat model homologations (and other manufacturers) were listed as invalid on the FIA technical list and they still appear on that list today as being non FIA approved.

The Corbeau seats we refer to are as follows:

Corbeau Forza

Corbeau Pro-Series

Corbeau Revolution

Corbeau Sprint

All pre early 2004 models of these seats were struck off due to a technical problem. One of the seats in the range then invalidated all of our THEN current FIA Homologated seat. This seat was recalled at the time.

For INTERNATIONAL events and for National events where there is a specific regulatory requirement for FIA homologated seats the seats are to be FIA homologated and to carry a valid homologation label, noting the homologation period for an individual seat is five years. In MSA authorised stage rallying, under MSA Regulation (R)48.10.6.1, subject to the vehicle having been issued with an MSA Competition Car Log book prior to 01.01.2009 and provided the seats have been homologated and are mounted in accordance with MSA Regulation R48.10.6, the seats remain acceptable beyond the expiration of the 5 year period. As with any seat they must be in acceptable condition.

So there can be no ambiguity we hereby advise the following Corbeau Seats that are no longer: FIA homologated but remain acceptable within MSA Regulation R48.10.6.1

Seats that no longer conform: Corbeau Forza Homologation Number CS99300

                                                                Corbeau Pro-Series Homologation Number CS13004

                                                                Corbeau Revolution Homologation Number CS12404

                                                                Corbeau Sprint Homologation Number CS05302

In 2004 this whole range of seats was re-homologated. The numbers are confirmed below; such seats are FIA homologated and thus acceptable in INTERNATIONAL and NATIONAL events:

Approved Seats Details: Corbeau Forza 2K Homologation Number CS12504

                                                                Corbeau Pro-Series 2K Homologation Number CS13004

Corbeau Revolution 2K Homologation Number CS12404

Corbeau Sprint 2K Homologation Number CS 12604

Should there be any doubt, please do not hesitate to contact us and our technical team will be pleased to assist.

Shedden took third in race one making sure our brand was kept in the top three and the second race of the weekend saw the scot bring home the Team Dynamics Honda in first place after making a move on team mate Matt Neal.

Matt Jackson kept Corbeau and Luke on the top spot, winning in race three after racing ahead of the field taking a strong lead putting him in pole position in the championship. Matt Neal drove an outstanding third race moving up the grid from 17th to 4th.

Jody Fannin rounded off an excellent weekend taking 2nd position on the podium in all three races, with some flying laps in race one, a long ride over the grass in race two and a new gear box required for race three the young driver managed to keep a level head throughout the weekend and this has resulted in a single point deficit to the championship lead.

Corbeau and Luke may have been a little quite on the news front lately but we can assure you that there has been plenty going on. Our seats were finally installed into the Brighton and Hove Albions new Amex Stadium and even though we do say so ourselves they looked amazing.

Young Freddie Lee topped the podium at Arena Essex again last weekend now with an 8 point lead in the Ministox Championship, Liam Doran took his first win for Monster Energy at X Games in the Super Rally event on the streets of LA and Lotus Sport UK took their first win of their season in the GT4 Evora at Spa, and Nigel Mansell also took the Evora for a spin on the famous hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

With the BTCC returning this weekend after their summer break we know all the action is about to come back on track.

With Matt Neal and Matt Jackson battling it out in the drivers’ standings it leaves us in no doubt that this weekend at Snetterton will have some fantastic racing, and Corbeau and Luke are on full display with our seats and safety harnesses in use in the top 4 drivers cars.

We must not forget that young Jody Fannin will also be on track in his Ginetta flying the flag for Corbeau and Luke and we know that he’s itching to get back on track after having a 7 week break!

Corbeau and Luke will have their trade stand at Silverstone this weekend for Ford Fair with all our seats and harnesses on display for you to try and buy so we hope to see you there.

Matt Neal and Matt Jackson shared the wins this weekend at Croft in North Yorkshire. Matt Neal put Corbeau and Luke on the podium in the first two races of the day with Matt Jackson taking second in race one with Shedden, Jordan and Chilton all jostling for 5th, 6th and 7th on a very greasy circuit.

Liam Griffin in the Airwaves Focus caused the most excitement in race two with his car veering off into the crop fields. The battle between Neal and Collard made for great racing and not only did Neal set the fastest lap of the weekend but also kept Corbeau and Luke on the top spot for the second time on Sunday, with Andrew Jordan taking 3rd position and Shedden, Jackson and Chilton take respective 4th 5th and 6th for Corbeau.

Matt Jackson put in an outstanding drive for the final race of the day and coming home in first he made sure that Corbeau Seats and Luke Safety Harnesses didn’t fall off the top spot all weekend.

Jody Fannin had a great result at Croft this weekend also. Despite being taken off the track Jody recovered well enough to take two fastest laps and two podiums in the tricky weather conditions. Race one on Saturday in the Ginetta Super Cup Jody qualified 3rd and finished in 4th after suffering with some oversteer issues. With rain showers settling in for the afternoon tyre choice would play a critical part in the race and with the team deciding to send Jody out on slicks, Jody was soon setting a good pace and passing other drivers in his class. Despite Jody being taken off and suffering some damage after an incident with a rival competitor, Jody got back on track and was lapping over a second faster that the leaders toward the end of the race. Jody took fourth which then became third after some intervention by the clerk of the course.

The second race of the day proved to be another challenge for the Surrey based youngster and after an incident with a G55 saw Jody facing the oncoming cars, after rejoining he knew he had to make up for lost time, but he fought his way up and after the safety car had been deployed he had managed to get up to 3rd, unfortunately after an unavoidable moment on the grass Jody lost a place which could not be made up in the end and had to settle for 4th. Jody in now back in the championship hunt and has halved the points gap between himself and the leader and is now in a good position to challenge this in the second half of the season.

Elsewhere this weekend Lotus Sport UK had a new driver in their team line up with the addition of Phil Glew, who on is first outing with the team at Brands Hatch this weekend put in an outstanding performance. The two car squad had a great result at Brands Hatch, with the GT4 battle being a close one, Phil Glew took the lead in the Evora and pulled out a seven-second lead over the KTM X-Bow, but It was Leyton Clarke and Freddy Nordstrom who took the honors finishing in 2nd place.

Race two saw the rain come down heavily and with Jody on Slicks he managed a great job, after over taking an extremely defensive G50 competitor Jody started to close the gap on the lead group but by the end of the race having halved the gap between himself and the front runners he ran out of time to get on the podium and finished his weekend in 4th position. A respectable drive from young Jody this weekend and he is now lying 2nd in the Championship.

MPH Customs have been extremely busy over the winter break and the final result was revealed at Donington Park just a few weeks ago for the first round of the BDC Championship. Matt went out for his first practice session and trying to keep his sensible head on he thought he would take it easy for the first run but then the buzz kicked back in and Matt really showed what the Mazda RX-7 was capable of. Unfortunately for Matt all his hard work and effort did not quite reward him in the way he had hoped with a radiator blockage putting him out of the competition for the weekend. However for the Corbeau team it was great to see Matt’s custom designed Revenge system 3 seats finally in the car and knowing he was safely strapped in by this 2005 LUKE Harnesses. We look forward to seeing some more spectacular sideways action from Matt house and the MPH Customs team throughout the rest of the season.

Matt will be back in action this weekend the 14th and 15th May at The Nissan Factory-Sunderland with JDM Allstars.
